Facebook 3rd Party Advertising

There has been much hubbub today about Facebook’s policy on allowing 3rd party advertisers to use pictures we post in Facebook for advertising purposes.  If I understand this correctly, this means that a friend of mine would see a picture of me inside one of those ads schlocking the key to making $5000 – $10 000 a month on the Internet.  This seems a bit sneaky and underhanded to many people out there on Facebook land, but luckily there seems to be a quick fix.  I’ve outlined the steps below on how to opt out of this policy.

First, go to settings and select Privacy settings:

facebook

Then select News Feed and Wall:

facebooki

Then choose Facebook Ads:

facebookii

Finally, set the box next to Appearance of Facebook Ads to No one and save your changes.
