Who would have thought that an ugly T-shirt featuring three wolves howling at the moon would become a crucial piece of the modern hipster cache? But it has happened thanks to CollegeHumor.com.
After the website made fun of the T-shirt on Amazon.com, sales and customer testimonials suddenly began pouring in – mostly done in the name of irony and mockery. However, I’m sure the people in New Hampshire who made the shirt don’t mind that it sold like hot-cakes (for a day or two, it was the number-one best-seller in Amazon’s apparel section.) Even if the joke was lost on them, they undoubtly still enjoyed an unexpected spike in revenue from the experience.
I remember similar shirts when I was in school: usually they were accessorized with high-top sneakers, faded black jeans, and an unsightly sports-themed leather jacket of some sort. Now if a person were ever so bold as to couple their newly-purchased wolf/moon shirt with some throw-back Zubaz pants, the entire universe would collapse into a massive black hole of coolness.
